Sparklers Paper Poppers

Sparklers  We list our site as MARX but we collect and display all toys from as many manufacturers as we can find (and afford !) !! We have a MARX toy, in our collection, that is called ---GYRO-ZIP the FLYING TOP (please look at picture). The plunger and mechanism is very similar to the toys that shoot sparks when the plunger is pushed. This set us off on another adventure to collect sparking toys. The toys we speak of have at least one flint (like in a lighter) that when you depress the plunger rapidly, a wheel spins the flint and that flint then scrapes across an abrasive plate and sparks fly !! We have placed some pictures of these toys on this page. We will keep updating the story and adding more sparkers as we find them. We are researching the history of their beginning and we will ad what we find. The oldest reference we have found, to date, is one that was made in Germany where' until WW-II, most tin toys were made. We ask anyone, that has information, to write us and we will add it to this new story. If you have a special sparking toy, please send a picture so the toy world can see it !!!! The blue toy and box J. Chein & Co. --- the small toy with butterflies is Germany (circa 1930s) --- `the black cat = maker unknown? --- the red & blue toy = unknown maker --- the toy in the bag = Hong-Kong by MIKEPHIL : the yellow,red & black toy = unknown CHECK BACK OFTEN FOR MORE FUN !!!!!! Image:  Here we are again with more plunger type sparkler toys !! When we got the urge to buy and display these types of toys, we never new there would be so many variations !!!!!!! Please look below at the two Ronson sparklers they date back to 1922 --1923 and one is marked  "ARCHIE" from the comic strip we think ?? -- we also show Casper the Friendly Ghost and to the right, is one made in China  --- Howdy Doody -- the one with the box is Chein and different than another we show --- NOW look at the picture that shows a plunger type toy with two balls. This is a plunger type toy that spins the balls in a top like fashion and it was made by MARX TOY COMPANY in the 1930s !!! the ball on the left was made in a later year (1950s?) and it fits into the plunger ?? We like to display toys and our latest display is in a public library in our area.
